Christ-Like Friendship and Support

Holding hands in fellowship with Christ-like friendship as we learn how to connect the truth of God's Word with everyday life, while walking through the pages of His Word.
Today's Daily Devotional
Let God's Word shine light on your step today
as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
This is what the Scripture says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
(Heb. 3:15)
Devotional: Controlling God
May 18th

TODAY IN HIS WORD COMES FROM
(Ps. 97:1-5 ESV)

The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice:
let the many coastlands be glad!
Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaires all around.
His lightnings light up the world; The mountains melt like wax before the LORD,
before the Lord of all the earth.

THOUGHT TO PONDER:
My friend, something to think about today: we as humans can control a lot of things; but a mighty thunderstorm, we can't. When a powerful storm is headed our way-- all we can do is prepare and then weather it out. In the same way we cannot contain a tornado, we cannot control God.

TODAY’S INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD:
If you ever lose sight of the awesomeness of God-- then go outside. Watch the incredible display of His glory. Man can paint a beautiful painting but nothing as grand as what you will see in the sky during a powerful display of the sun going down. His sunsets are like an incredible reminder that He has been with us all day. And the beauty of the first rays of the sun coming up in the morning, is a show that He will also be with us today.

When you see clouds building and darkness comes rolling in and thunder shakes the window panes-- remember and think for a moment of the all powerfulness of God.

"The earth shook and quaked, the foundations of the heavens were trembling..."
(2nd Samuel 22:8)

My friend, the earth may shake, but God is the one who holds it in place.

Remember that sometimes the Lord will allow for storms to come into our lives because it is the only way to remove from us things that have attached themselves to us that is not of Him.

When he spoke before, his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised,
"Once again I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens."
The words "once again" clearly show us that everything
that was made—things that can be shaken—will be destroyed.
Only the things that cannot be shaken will remain.
So let us be thankful, because we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
We should worship God in a way that pleases him with respect and fear,
because our God is like a fire that burns things up.
(Heb.12:26-28 NCV)

God is the one who speaks and it happens-- not man. When God sends His Word, mountains move and nothing can change the course that He sets. When God speaks, you can be sure that it will come to pass. God can move us-- but we cannot move Him. We have come to a kingdom that can be shaken-- we come before the LIVING GOD-- everything passes through HIS hands, not ours.

So, today as you go out, if it's all "calm" for you, that is wonderful-- this doesn't mean God is passive, it simply means He is the one keeping life stable. But, if you're in the thick of a storm and clouds are building up and thunder is shaking your world-- remember God is this too. Hold on to Him, who is more than able and He will see you through. Don't try to control God, don't try to tell HIM WHAT TO DO. Instead, LOOK to Him and watch to see what He will do.

PRAYING IN FAITH:
Father God, we praise You for being the mighty God. Lord, we praise You for being unmovable and stable. Lord, we praise You because You are our fortress and place of refuge. Lord, we praise You for who You are, and  that is OUR God, the Holy one of Israel. Lord, we thank You for being for us, and not against us.
Father God, I lift this reader up to You and ask You to be with them. Lord, I ask You to open their eyes to see You as never before. Lord, I ask You to get them where they need to be, and that You will go before them and clear the path for them. Lord, I ask You to watch over them and keep a protective shield around them that nothing can get past. Lord, I also ask You to remove from them all that isn't of You. Lord, I ask You to remove all that keeps them from growing in You. Lord, whatever storms they are going through, I ask You to help them to look to You and not themselves. Lord, help them to focus on You and to hear Your voice above the noise.
In Christ Jesus' Amen.

~ My friend, may you have a Christ filled day.
