A Letter from Kassie
(writer for Cypress Ministries)
My writing is dedicated to our heavenly Father
who so often reminds me to
“Be still and know that
IN ALL THINGS I AM GOD”
To His Son, who is truly the Author and Finisher
of my faith, and it is in Him that I am able to find strength each day,
To His Holy Spirit who teaches me,
leads me,and tugs at my heart when
I don’t know where to go.
When I stumble with “Who am I?”
the Lord picks me back up with
“Who has given man his mouth,
and makes him deaf or mute?
Who gives him sight or makes him blind?
Is it not I, the LORD?
Now go; I will help you speak
and will teach you what to say."
(Scripture reference: Exodus. 4:11-12)
It is in Christ’s name that I give all glory
to God, who is the true Author
of these words that I have penned.
I give thanks to Him for I am simply a vessel
and humbled that each morning when
I rise He gives me a heart for His Word
to write down.
And so with a trembling heart,
I simply say, “Thank You, God.”
I don’t know to whom I am writing this letter. I don’t know who you are, where you live, or what your circumstances are like, but what I do know is that God does. I want you to know that I pray about you before ever starting each writing project. Though I don’t know your face, you have been in my heart.
Several years ago, it became insufficient for me to just read the Bible. I found myself hungry for a deeper understanding of God and His Word. So I started studying day in and day out. I found myself, like the Bereans, eager to hear what was said and then “study the Scriptures every day” (Acts 17:11) to find out for myself what the Word of God said.
At one point, on my knees in prayer, I found myself asking God, “Please, can I just have You? King Solomon asked for wisdom, and I need that also, but even more than that I desire to know You, not just about You. Lord, teach me to know You the way Abraham did, and face-to-face like Moses.”
At another point I asked God, “Please, would You help me to know You with certainty and clarity. Lord, help me to know Your voice so that no matter where I am at or what’s going on around me, when You say my name, when You whisper to me, I can say, ‘Yes, Lord.’”
I am here to tell you that God heard me, answered my prayers, and took me at my word -- so I have taken Him at His. And in doing so, I have learned so much about the God I believe in and worship. I believe God is who He says He is. I believe God can and will do what He says He will do.
I still have much to learn, and it will take a lifetime, but it is one I am willing to give. Have there been difficult days? Yes. Have there been seasons of grief and despair? Yes. I have found that when you pray, “God, please give me faith to walk on water,” watch out, because there are going to be storms! But I have also learned to feel God’s peace, which so surpasses any understanding that I could not even begin to explain.
I have learned that, in order to experience God and build a personal relationship with Him, He will indeed lead you through some very low valleys. But even now I can say that I am thankful for them, because they have made me so much more appreciative for the times when He picks me up and I am on mountain tops with Him. I believe that this is what I am supposed to share with you.
So here I am, to share what God has taught, and is still, teaching me. I am here to be a witness to you that God is still God, He will always be God, and there is no other God. The same God before, is our God now. If He will walk with me, and help me, and my family; then my friend, KNOW that He will for you, too.
What I share with you in a lot of the writing that you will find on this site (and in the books that have been published for Cypress Ministries), is based on things my family and I have personally experienced and learned from God in our lives. Again, please know I have pray daily for God to lead me as I write for you, so that it isn't just my message, but whatever He would have me to share. In saying this, I encourage you to personally pray for God’s wisdom and understanding. I am hoping and asking that you will take the time to look up Scriptures that I have suggested in your Bible and let God’s Holy Spirit lead and teach you. I truly believe that if we seek Him with our whole hearts, He really does let us find Him.
One last note I would like to share: In doing my studies and research I use several different Bible translations (which are the KJV, NKJV, NASB, ESV, NIV, and the NCV), I also use many commentaries, and Biblical study software. However, you will see a lot of Scriptures quoted from the New Century Version (NCV) Bible on this site, simply because I have found that this is an easy version to understand when I am reading the Bible to my children, or in Bible studies and counseling sessions with people who aren’t as familiar with the Bible. So I hope that it will help those who visit our site who may be struggling to understand His Word.
I believe the reason there are so many different Bible translations today is because God wants everyone to be able to understand His Word. In the same way that the sign over Jesus’ cross was written in several languages so that everyone could read and understand it, we have many different Bible versions so that each of us can be taught and read God’s Word in a language we can understand.
A friend of mine uses the New International Version (NIV) as her daily Bible. And what is interesting is that; in First John 1, in my personal Bible says, “We write to you …” In her personal Bible, it says, “We proclaim to you…” which is very fitting for both of us. You see, I write, so in my Bible God’s Word speaks to me in a language I totally get and I can understand it. And as for my friend? She teaches at women’s community Bible studies and women’s conferences. She “proclaims” using her voice, whereas I use a pen (okay, computer). But the same message from God’s Word reaches both of us.
So, dear friend, in closing, if I don’t see you face to face on this side of heaven, I will see you later when we both get there. But until then, may God bless, keep you, and smile upon you.

For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth...
