Today's Daily Devotional
Let God's Word shine light on your step today
as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
This is what the Scripture says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
(Heb. 3:15)
Today's Devotional is from our series
Following As God Leads
Just as God led the Israelites day by day and even through the nights, so He desires to lead us. We only have to watch HIM, and follow in His steps as He directs us.

God has a certain place He wants each of us to be, and at certain times. If we will but trust Him, He will guide our foot steps each day at a time, and when we lay down He will watch over us, and even give us a cloud of fire to point the way as we week Him in the quietness at night.

Christ-Like Friendship and Support

Holding hands in fellowship with Christ-like friendship as we learn how to connect the truth of God's Word with everyday life, while walking through the pages of His Word.

(Ps. 68:35 NCV)
God, you are wonderful in your Temple.
The God of Israel gives his people strength
and power. Praise God!

Just as the Bible tells us there is a season for everything, so there is a time for “prayerfully asking,” and a time for “prayerfully thanking and praising.” This would be the same as “a time to fight and a time to be still.” And every once in a while you are called to do both at the same time.

Exodus 14, when the Israelites were faced with an imposing Egyptian army on one side and the raging Red Sea on the other, they must have begun to panic because Moses told them not to be afraid but to stand firm and watch the Lord fight for them. But then the Lord told them to “move,” to go across the way He would make for them. You might wonder how Moses could tell them to stand firm if the Lord was telling them to move. What Moses was telling them was to “stand firm inside themselves.” He was trying to reassure them not to panic and flee in every direction.

At that moment Moses didn’t know how the Lord would save them, He only knew for certain that the Lord would. Moses looked at the situation, saw the opposing army closing in and the Red Sea next to them and didn’t know quite what to do. But in that very moment he showed his total confidence in God. He knew God would not have just freed them only to lead them to a slaughter. So he stepped up and put all his faith in God and told his people, “Stand firm, do not be afraid, and do not back down. God is with us and will fight for us.”  He wasn’t telling his people to just “stand there.” He was telling them that in spirit (inside themselves) to be calm, be still, and do not be afraid.

Sometimes this can be true for us as well. We need to “stand firm” but it is to be in spirit only because we still have a part to play. Sometimes there is still something we have to actually do, no matter how unnerving it is or how trying our circumstances around us are. In other words, “move” in faith but “be still” by resisting fear. Be strong because the Lord fights for us and with us.

Other times, it is very clear that the Lord says, “This is MY BATTLE,” and our only role in it is to watch and praise Him. This is when we need to stand in faith on what He has told us, stay focused on Him, and give glory to Him when victory comes. When God has said, “It is done,” we need to believe Him and claim what we may not see just yet.  When we “stand in praise” it helps us to do this and not fall to discouragement.

The following “Praise List” is something I use when it seems like the waves are hammering me from all sides. It reminds me that my part is to stay focused on what He has told me to do and simply let Him fight the battle. All that is left for me to do is praise Him, so I do.

  • I praise God because He is mighty and strong; there is nothing He cannot do, nothing is too difficult for Him, and He is able to do what He says He will do.
  • I praise God because He is faithful and true; He always does what He says He will do.
  • I praise God because He loves me and He sent His Son to die for me.
  • I praise God because He forgives me.
  • I praise God because He comforts me.
  • I praise God because I know that His Holy Spirit lives in me.
  • I praise God because He works in me.
  • I praise God because He is my deliverer and He has set me free.
  • I praise God because He teaches me, and He is my light.
  • I praise God because He redeems me.
  • I praise God because He restores me.
  • I praise God because He is great.
  • I praise God because He is worthy.
  • I praise God because His Word is true.
  • I praise God because He renews me.
  • I praise God because He does hear me and He answers my prayer.
  • I praise God because He is in control.
  • I praise God because He strengthens me.
  • I praise God because He will not forsake me.
  • I praise God because He blesses me in many ways.
  • I praise God because every day He gives me something to be thankful for.
  • I praise God because I can look back and see good things that the Lord has brought from trials and difficulties that I have gone through.
  • I praise God because He is God.
  • I praise God because He is a mighty God.
  • I praise God because He is my God.

Father God, thank You for this new day. Thank You for this time to just simply come and worship You. Lord, thank You for who You are, and for being our God. Thank You for Your forgiveness, Your mercy, and Your grace.
Father God, we praise You for Your loving kindness. We praise You for loving us without end. Lord, thank You that every morning we can get up and start again. Thank You for all that You do for us. Thank You for watching over us.
Lord, I lift this reader up to You and ask You to give them strength to face all that may challenge them today. Lord, I ask You to lead them, and help them to stay firmly on the path YOU would have for them. Lord, I ask You to remove all that may be hindering them from becoming the person You created them to be, and bearing fruit for You. Lord, I ask You to be firmly rooted into Your Word. Lord, I ask You to open their eyes to see Your hand in their life, and will give You praise and honor in all that they do. Lord, I pray that in their hearts they will know how much they are love by You.
In Christ Jesus Name,

My friend, I hope you will have a wonderful day.
