   Today's Daily Devotional
Let God's Word shine light on your step today
as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
This is what the Scripture says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
(Heb. 3:15)
Today's Devotional is from our series
Following As God Leads
Just as God led the Israelites day by day and even through the nights, so He desires to lead us. We only have to watch HIM, and follow in His steps as He directs us.

God has a certain place He wants each of us to be, and at certain times. If we will but trust Him, He will guide our foot steps each day at a time, and when we lay down He will watch over us, and even give us a cloud of fire to point the way as we week Him in the quietness at night.

Devotional: To Comfort Others
Dec. 12th

(2 Cor. 1:3-8 NIV)
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles,
so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort
we ourselves receive from God.
For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ,
so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation;
if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you
patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.
And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you
share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort

There will be times when we go through trials, heartache, and suffering  but afterwards we find that is wasn't about me, or you, it was for someone else. Sometimes what we go through, has NOTHING to do with us, God allows it for the benefit of someone else.

So often when we are going through hardships, it is very easy to become focused on ourselves. But the truth of the matter is, when it is all said and done, we can find that it really wasn't about us, it was so that God could bring us alongside someone so we can help them.

I have been through quite a lot in my life. Before God brought me into ministry, there was a lot of cleansing and cleaning I had to go through. There were something's in my past that I thought surely nothing good would come from that.... but now, it seems as if God is always bringing me alongside someone who I can relate to in just that.

Typically I have always been a very strong person, I could hang on by sheer will, I could keep going and not quit, I could get through, sometimes in just plain stubbornness. Things would very much hurt me, but it didn't break me-- it didn't break my spirit. I suffered through and made it through. But, as I have had to prepare for this ministry, God has had to knock some of that strength down. You see I needed it back then, I need a different kind of strength now.

Now as I look back I can see where God was with me. Something's I went through were from my own choices-- my own stupidity. But there were also times I went through things, because I was at the mercy of someone else. But through it all I see now that God indeed was there, and looking back, I can see where MANY times God put His hand down and said, "NOT THAT FAR."

As I have grown in my walk with God, I realize that what Scripture says is true. Nothing that comes to me (or at), hasn't gone through God's eyes and hands first. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered (Matt. 10:28-30). I have learned that though I cannot always understand at the time, I can trust God will bring SOMETHING good from it at some point in time. (Even if I have to wait until I get to the other side of Heaven to see it.)

Some might be bitter and say, "Well why did God have to allow..." My friend, I do not know why. I can't see the bigger picture as God can. But, I do know that God is a JUST God, and He has good plans for those who love and trust Him. From my experiences, I can say that though a lot of things in my past have hurt me, it didn't break who God created me to be, and now I can be a testimony for him. So as I look back, I see that something's I went through were (in the big picture), not about me. God allowed things, knowing that at the right time, I would choose His plans and purposes for me, that I would choose to follow as He leads me. God knew that at some point, I would be on my knees and hear His voice and choose to answer His called and submit to His plans for me, and step into ministry. And in doing so, would bring me alongside others that I can give comfort to, as God has comforted me.

When we look at Scripture, throughout cover to cover we see people who went through amazing things that should have broken them in so many ways-- but it didn't, they kept going, they kept teaching, they kept sharing God's word-- sometimes to the point of death. How could they have done that? The answer can only be that in some way, some how they experienced God in such a way, that they could not be shaken. And God held them up, God saw them through. And because of it, their testimonies have lasted for generation after generation. What they spoke to the people back then, they now speak to you and me.

You see, what they went through was never about them. And actually it wasn't even just about the people who lived in their own times, God in His wisdom--- and because He can see so much more--- knew that by allowing certain things, and lessons taught, and words spoken; would reach so many more than who the men and writers of the Bible could see, or even imagine. When God sent His servants out all those many generations ago, He didn't do it for just them-- He also did it for you and me. And in the same way, things we go through now, things that we learn now are not intended for just you and me. But to be shared with others, so that later others after us will see.

My friend, I truly hope you will find some type of comfort in these words today. I don't know what all you have gone through-- but I know that God does. And if He has allowed it, then I know He will bring comfort, strength, and healing to you. He will give to you, so that at sometime you can help someone too.

Father God, thank You that we see all that happens, and that You are always with us. Thank You for Your promise never to forsake us. Lord, we praise You for being a mighty and faithful God. Lord, though we can not see the big picture, we can rest in Your hands, because we know that You do.
Father, I pray for this reader with me today. Lord, may You fill them with Your Holy Spirit and heal them and make them new. Lord, I pray they will be strengthened in You and hold firm in faith, that You are a good God, and will see them through.
In Christ Jesus Name,

~ My friend, have a Christ filled day.
