   Today's Daily Devotional
      Let God's Word shine light on your step today
     as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
This is what the Scripture says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
(Heb. 3:15)
Today's Devotional is from our series
Following As God Leads
Just as God led the Israelites day by day and even through the nights, so He desires to lead us. We only have to watch HIM, and follow in His steps as He directs us.

God has a certain place He wants each of us to be, and at certain times. If we will but trust Him, He will guide our foot steps each day at a time, and when we lay down He will watch over us, and even give us a cloud of fire to point the way as we week Him in the quietness at night.

Christ-Like Friendship and Support

Holding hands in fellowship with Christ-like friendship seeing how to connect the truth of God's Word with everyday life, while learning to walk together (hand and hand) through the pages of His Word.

TODAY IN HIS WORD COMES FROM
(Psalm 29:3-9 NIV)
The voice of the LORD is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
  the LORD thunders over the mighty waters.
The voice of the LORD is powerful;
  the voice of the LORD is majestic.
The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;
  the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,
  Sirion like a young wild ox.
The voice of the LORD strikes
  with flashes of lightning.
The voice of the LORD shakes the desert;
  the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh.
The voice of the LORD twists the oaks
  and strips the forests bare.  And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

THOUGHT TO PONDER:
When God leads us, and seeks to give us peace; when He teaches us, and heals us; His voice is quiet and in soft whispers, fitting for the lamb of God. But when He comes to liberate us and to give us victory, it is in a thunderous applaud, and with the mighty roar of the lion of Judah announcing his presence, as if to make certain that everyone knows and hears Him say, "I AM GOD."

TODAY’S INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD:
My friend, God's voice is all-powerful. All He has to do is command, and it is done. When He spoke the world into existence, He said "let it be" and it was. At the sound of His voice the earth trembles and shakes, and life is given. So often throughout Scripture we read, "And the Lord commanded." and "The Lord said." When God speaks a difference is made. Read again from His Word today, it says, "The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic."

When Jesus first came to earth, He did not put up a fight when they took him away to be crucified. He quietly walked way with the soldiers . He didn't have too, but His choice was made long before that night ever happened. As God was saying, "Let there be light," Jesus was heading to the grave. But my friend, for all of His quietness the first time, in Revelations we read, that when He returns, it will be in a mighty and powerful way. He came in meek and gentleness, but His return will be as loud as thunder. There is nothing weak about our God.

My friend, I would like to have you read of another time when the voice of God thundered. "While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to engage Israel in battle. But that day the LORD thundered with loud thunder against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic that they were routed before the Israelites. The men of Israel rushed out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, slaughtering them along the way to a point below Beth Kar" (1 Sam. 7:10-11 NIV).

In the passage of 1 Samuel 7: we read that Samuel had gone to the Israelites and had basically said, “If the Lord is truly your God, then follow Him with your whole hearts and lay down-- or better yet--throw away all your false idols” (Read 1 Sam 7:2-3). And the Israelites did. They took to heart that the Lord is God and they chose to follow Him.

While the Israelites were gathered, the Philistines heard about it and decided there couldn’t be a better time to attack! But, what the Philistines failed to understand is that when you come up against a people of God’s, then you come up against God Himself! The Lord told His people in Exodus 23:22, “If you listen carefully to all he says and do everything that I tell you, I will be an enemy to your enemies. I will fight all who fight against you.”

When the Israelites saw they were under attack, they were scared and called to Samuel, “Don’t quit praying for us!” And, Samuel didn’t stop. He prayed through the battle. It says in 1Sam 7:9, “He called to the Lord for Israel’s sake, and the Lord answered him.” The Lord being true to His word, fought for them. I love how verse 10 says, “But the Lord thundered against them…”  My friend when God steps in and goes before us in battle, it usually is with a “thunderous applause.”

The Israelites went on the win that battle, the Lord gave them victory. And in the eyes of all the surrounding nations, God showed that these  Israelites were who He called, "MY PEOPLE." He does the same for you and me. Our God is a mighty God and when He is ready, He does not just quietly come in and say politely, "Oh here, let me open those doors for you." When He sets you free it is always with the knowing that God is present. And your life will not stay the same. When you choose to let Him be the LORD of your life, then He sets the stage. He comes in, and announces this one "IS MINE."

My friend, the next time you hear a fabulous roar of thunder, close your eyes and just imagine, is that maybe the Lord coming to fight a battle for someone who has laid down false idols and chosen instead to follow Him whole heartedly… the thunder you hear that rattles the window panes could very well be the Lord liberating someone who has been in some type of bondage and needs to know that HE IS GOD.  Just think that incredible thunderstorm could be God making His very presence know to someone who desperately needs him. Maybe it is someone you know, someone close to you, or just maybe-- that mighty roar of thunder is just for you!

PRAYING IN FAITH:
Father God, we praise You for Your mighty acts that You do on our behalf. Lord, what an awesome God You truly are. Thank You for being with us. Thank You for watching over us. And thank You for stepping in with the roar of the Lion of Judah when we so desperately need Your strength to stand over us.
  Father, I close my eyes and imagine putting my hand on this readers arm and kneeling with them. Lord, with our heads bowed, we call upon You to be Lord, may Your voice resound in a thunderous applaud all around us. Lord, let our enemies know that You call us by name, "YOURS." Lord, come and set Your captives free that we may glorify You. Lord, we claim victory in Your name, the ALL MIGHTY GOD. And, we praise You, Father God.
In Christ Jesus Name,
Amen.

~ My friend, have a glorious and wonderful day.
Kassie
