Devotional: No Un-Important Parts
written by Kassie
TODAY IN HIS WORD COMES FROM:
(1 Corinthians 12:21-26)
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!”
And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!”
On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor.
And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,
while our presentable parts need no special treatment.
But God has put the body together,
giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
so that there should be no division in the body,
but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers,
every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
THOUGHT TO PONDER
No part is too small to be un-important, what you do matters. The smallest grain of sand by its self, may be hard to see, but add that same grain of sand to others, and watch a child make a castle!
TODAY’S INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD
My friend, look if you will at your little finger-- kind of strange request, I know... but please look at it just the same. Imagine a thorn in this finger. Now think about what would happen if you didn't get the torn out-- it would fester. My friend, that thorn left there long enough can get infected and eventually your whole hand is going to hurt. Going back to today's first thought, nothing is to small not to matter.
When God made the body, He made it with lots of small parts, but if even one of those small parts gets hurt, eventually it will affect the whole body. My friend, God in all His wisdom, made the body in a remarkable way, each part designed to work with the rest, and each part has a role to play. With God, NOTHING is wasted.
You might be wondering what this all has to do in a devotional, but what I am getting at is this, the body of Christ is made up of a lot of people. I belong to that body of Christ, and so do you.
I may be called to write and be in ministry, you may be called to be a school teacher... we have different roles (you and I), but we still need each other. I feed you God's Word as He leads me to share them, but a school teacher is feeding many children in ways I never could. God gifts us in ways (and in areas) as He sees fit, and places us in the "right part of the body" that are missing certain pieces. And every part, and every person is important. It doesn't matter what you are doing, it will affect something and someone later.
The person who put all the bags in their proper place at the grocery store early this morning... they may have seen it as "no big deal," but I assure you that, me and everyone else who comes along today, will certainly be thankful that the bags are there!
The man in the huge gas tank at the pump today, refilling the gas drums underground-- something that no one can even see-- may feel that it's no big thing. But come 5 O'clock, I'm sure that to everyone who has been there to put gas in their car, is glad that he did.
My friend, everything we do affects someone at some point-- somewhere. Even if you don't see it, and even if it is way down the road. God leaves nothing to chance, and He waste nothing.
Read in John 4, Jesus told His followers that,
"... One person plants, and another harvests.
I sent you to harvest a crop that you did not work on.
Others did the work, and you get to finish up their work"
(John 4:37-38 NCV)
My friend, I write each day, after spending a lot of time in studying the work someone else did before me. And then I get to share what God is teaching me... In the same way, we (you and I) build on each other. I may not see where these words go now after I post this, but I have laid a building block, doing what God has called me to do.... so I know that some point, this lesson will be used. My friend, know that what you do, too, is important. Know that you matter. Know that in someway, and somehow-- what you do, God can use it to make a difference.
PRAYING IN FAITH
Father God, thank You that in Your wisdom, which we cannot even begin to understand, you make all the pieces fit in just the right way. Thank You that You bring all the right pieces together, in the way they are supposed to be. Lord, we praise You for the way You bring us together, molding us with others to complete what the other is missing. Lord, Your wisdom is beyond measure, and we praise You for all that You do that we can't even begin to see. Lord, I pray for this person who is reading along with me. Lord, I pray that You will show them how they fit what is missing. Father God, please be with them and keep them. Lord, lead them, and guide them.
In Christ Jesus Name,
~ My friend, may you shine today in all that you do.
