TODAY IN HIS WORD COMES FROM
(John 5:19-24 NASB)
Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them,
"Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself,
unless it is something He sees the Father doing;
for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing;
and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel.
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son
also gives life to whom He wishes. For not even the Father judges anyone,
but He has given all judgment to the Son,
so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father.
He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me,
has eternal life, and does not come into judgment,
but has passed out of death into life."
A THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Jesus did not come to glorify Himself, but to demonstrate obedience to the Father and give all glory to God. Our Heavenly Father (on the other hand) put all things under Christ, and glorifies His Son.
TODAY’S INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD:
My friend, when you find that you are hungry inside for something you cannot explain, when you feel you keep searching for something, but you are not quite sure what it is.... When you feel lost, but somehow you know inside there is supposed to be more... know that your spirit is searching for God. The Lord calls you. He calls to your Spirit, because He is Spirit, and He draws you to Him. He brings about a way for you to meet His Son. “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered. “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me" (John 6:43-45 NIV).
God will not live with sin. The ugliness of sin will not darken His doorstep, so if He was the one left to judge us, we would be eternally separated from Him. But that is not His desire, God loves His people, even when we are so undeserving. What God said in Jer. 31, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness" (vs3 NASB), He says to you and me.
The thing is though, He doesn't force us to accept Him, or even love Him. He gives us that choice. And because we as humans are sinful by nature, He sent His Son to bridge the gap between us. And the Son, loving us as much as the Father, willingly said, "YES." Jesus obeyed His Father's command and came to us to take upon Himself our sins, cleansing us and covering us, so that we may enter into the most Holy of Places and be seated at the table with God.
When we accept Christ, He covers us and seals us with His sacrifice so that when God looks at us, it is through the eyes of Christ. When we come before the throne of Grace, Christ stands with us, and says, "Father, this one is mine."
So often people want to separate Christ from God, but God made very certain that His Words were clear; As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased” (Matt. 3:16-17).
Christ was never shy in saying "MY FATHER", and He made sure that His followers knew that He was here to do His Father's will, and that what was of the Father's, was also of His. And the awesome thing is that, when we accept Christ, we come under Him and we are adopted into His Family, and His Father, becomes OURS.
Christ will NOT be separated from God, you cannot have one without the other. When we accept Christ, we get both. We are signed by His name, sealed by His blood, and delivered by His resurrection. Before His death, not only did He pray for His followers back then, He prayed for us as well. “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world" (John 17:20-24 NIV).
Just as Christ will not be separated from our Heavenly Father, God does not want to be separated from us. So He sent His Son to die on a Cross. We have only to accept.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me."
(John 14:6 NIV)
PRAYING IN FAITH:
Father God, what love You have for us that we sometimes cannot understand. Lord, thank You that You reach down from Heaven and hold Your hand out to us. Thank You, for Your Son who died on the cross for us so that we could be forgiven and have eternal life with you.
Father, I stand with this reader today that is with me. Lord, I pray that You will do amazing things in this one's life. Lord, I pray that You will open their eyes to see You, their mind to receive You, and their ears to hear You. Lord, I pray that You will remove any calluses in their hearts and that they will receive You and the Grace You extend.
In Christ Jesus Name,
~ My friend, have a Blessed day.
