Today's Daily Devotional
Let God's Word shine light on your step today
as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
This is what the Scripture says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
(Heb. 3:15)
Today's Devotional is from our series
Following As God Leads
Just as God led the Israelites day by day and even through the nights, so He desires to lead us. We only have to watch HIM, and follow in His steps as He directs us.

God has a certain place He wants each of us to be, and at certain times. If we will but trust Him, He will guide our foot steps each day at a time, and when we lay down He will watch over us, and even give us a cloud of fire to point the way as we week Him in the quietness at night.

Christ-Like Friendship and Support

Holding hands in fellowship with Christ-like friendship seeing how to connect the truth of God's Word with everyday life, while learning to walk together (hand and hand) through the pages of His Word.

(Isa. 66:9 NCV)
“In the same way,
I will not cause pain without
allowing something to be born.”
Say’s the LORD. “If I cause you the pain,
I will not stop you from giving birth to your new nation.” Says the LORD.

Sometimes when God says, "Be still, and know I am God," His message to you is, "Be still and quit struggling against me, so that I can bring forth something new."

Dear Friend, how fitting is our verse today. One of the hardest lessons I have learned I share with you… Don’t struggle against God when He is trying to bring forth something new in your life. Let the labor process have its turn.

Beloved, not all pain is one of punishment or discipline; sometimes it is for very good reason, because God is bringing forth blessings and promises. Sometimes, though, it is so hard to tell the difference. You see when you have gone through long seasons of difficulties, changes, cleansing and pruning; it is hard to tell the difference or notice the subtle shift in direction of pressure. The enemy would have you to believe that it is because you are not forgiven, and that you are still being punished. But God says many times in His word, that there is a time for punishment, but also a time for healing and restoration.

It doesn’t matter if you are a man or a woman, God can bring forth new things through you; but you will go through a “labor” process. Don’t struggle against Him and have no strength left to give birth when your time has come. It is your human nature to tighten up and force down the pain, but don’t kill what God is bringing forth. Also remember that God is faithful. If He allows the pain to come in and even intensify; He will not let it die out without something new to show for it.  However keep in mind that sometimes the “new” that God brings forth, is simply something “new in us." Appreciate that we-- you-- could be that new nation that God is bringing forth.

Hold remembrance to the fact that giving birth is a process and takes time. The seed has to develop and grow and be prepared before it is ready to be born, it is the same with us and in us. Don’t despair if you are going through a winter season, spring will come. Be ready because seasons do change.

Even when things appear to have “happened in an instance” it hasn’t. Somewhere and somehow there has been preparation and events leading up to it’s “happening.”  I often tell my children to think about the chocolate cake I surprised them with  for dessert after dinner a while back. It may had looked as it to “instantly” appeared after dinner that night, but in order for it to be able to be on our table at just the right time, there was a long process that started even before I went grocery shopping.

  • For one, I had to go grocery shopping.
  • But before that, someone had to make the cake.
  • Before even that, someone had to deliver the supplies to the bakery.
  • But even BEFORE that, someone had to collect the eggs that went into the cake; someone had to sift the flour…

The cake on our table that night, even though I would love to take the credit for it, DID NOT happen overnight.

Dear friend, it is the same in our lives. Nothing God does just happens “over night”. Rest assured that long before it comes into your hands, God has been planning, preparing and setting into motion events so that it can be “delivered” at just the right time.

Father God, thank You for Your goodness. Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning. Father God, thank You that it doesn’t matter what might have happened yesterday, today it is a new morning with new hope and new beginnings. How great You are.
Lord, we pray that You will be with us today and that we can walk today without complaining or arguing. Lord, help us to shine today in the midst of people who do not know You. God, it is our faith that brings us to You as an offering. Lord, help us to bring Your message out into the world today that shows that Christ is who brings real and whole new life. Lord, help each of us to run the race before us and to finish the strong and in completion of all that You would give us to do.
Lord, I also come before You this morning to lift this reader up to You. Lord, I pray that they will stay focused on You and not their struggles they go through. Lord, I pray that they look to You, the author and finisher of our faith, and know that You are faithful to do all that You promise to do.
In Christ Jesus name,

~ My friend, may God shine upon you today..
