Today's Daily Devotional
Let God's Word shine light on your step today
as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
This is what the Scripture says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
(Heb. 3:15)
Today's Devotional is from our series
Following As God Leads
Just as God led the Israelites day by day and even through the nights, so He desires to lead us. We only have to watch HIM, and follow in His steps as He directs us.

God has a certain place He wants each of us to be, and at certain times. If we will but trust Him, He will guide our foot steps each day at a time, and when we lay down He will watch over us, and even give us a cloud of fire to point the way as we week Him in the quietness at night.

Devotional: The Attributes of God (part 1)
March 4th

Drawing closer as we learn the Ways of God

Today In His Word Comes From:
Isaiah 40:12-14 (NASB)

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,
and marked off the heavens by the span, and calculated the dust of the earth by
the measure, And weighed the mountains in a balance And the hills in a pair of scales?
Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or as His counselor has informed Him?
With whom did He consult and who gave Him understanding?
And who taught Him in the path of justice and taught Him knowledge
and informed Him of the way of understanding?

NOTE: Over the next few days we are going to be looking at different ways to know God, and a few names in which to “call Him by.”  However,  before we can truly understand who God is, there are “His Ways” that need to be look at, in order to put our trust in Him. Because-- and quite frankly-- you will not trust someone you do not know, and God longs to be known by His people. If I were visiting with you and I was getting ready to introduce you to a friend of mine, I would start by telling you a little bit about that person… well it is the same for God, so let's be like Moses and dare to say, “Show me Your glory and tell me a little bit about Yourself.”

{Just so you know, “YES,” this week's devotionals are a little bit different than our regular daily devotionals… but I hope you will stick with us and keep today’s thoughts with you, as you spend your quiet time with God. I am challenging you to take some time (as you can); to look up and read at least a few of the suggested key Scriptures for each attribute of God listed below. Allow God to grow you like never before in His word-- and in who He is! I encourage you to get a notebook and start your OWN PERSONAL concordance! Your personal studies of God will never be the same as you start to listen as God declares to YOU “I am who I am.”}

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD:
God is eternal and completely sovereign. He was the first, and He will be the last, there is no other God, and for all His vastness-- He simply IS GOD. He has divine foreknowledge and sees the future because He has already been there, our tomorrows are His yesterdays, and He knows how to lead us through this thing we call “life”

I have a friend whom I have spent countless hours on the phone (since she is many hours away from me) praying with. Even though there are miles between us, I can feel God’s Holy Spirit with us as we pray. One of the things I love about her is, her sheer joy in the Lord. Many times I have heard her just get so excited and exclaim “Lord, You're just SO GOD!” And that is just so fitting and true-- He is so good and just SO GOD! There is no containing Him. There is no way to put Him into a box, and don’t think for a moment that you know all there is to know about Him; because if you do, He will blow the lid off the box!

My friend, God does not need our advice! God doesn’t need to sit down with us to “figure things out”, because His wisdom is so much deeper than ours.  There are so many different ways to know God as we go through life. Every season of our life is going to be different, and in each season we will come to know Him differently. Each of us is on a personal walk with God, so when one of us needs Him to be MIGHTY-- someone else may need Him to be the God of comfort; and He can be experienced in these ways to different people at the same time!

>> The following are just a few different attributes of God. Listed are key verses for you to look up (in the Bible version of your choice) to write down in your journal.

Have a blessed and wonderful journey!
Kassie

>>> God is Eternal: God is “age long” and has simply always been, and is never ending. God will always be; He is timeless and without measure.

  • Gen. 21:33Ex. 3:14-15Deut. 33:27Ps. 90:2Ps. 93:1-2
  • Isa. 26:3-4 Isa. 40:28   Dan. 4:34  Micah 5:2Heb. 1:12
  • Rom. 1:201 Tim. 1:17  Rev. 1:8

>>> God is Sovereign: His ways are so  much  higher  than  our  ways. He is in the midst of all things. Nothing comes to us that hasn’t been sifted through His hands first. He knows how to work things out in our lives (often times without us even knowing), so that we-- in our generation-- will be in line with what (and who) is needed for the next generation. Some things will not make sense to us, and we may be left with a lot of “but why…” in our lives that will not be understood until we get to heaven, because He can see so much MORE than us. He sees the BIGGER picture from before us and much later AFTER us.
