TODAY IN HIS WORD COMES FROM
(Gen 7:17-24 NCV)
Water flooded the earth for forty days, and as it rose it lifted the boat off the ground.
The water continued to rise, and the boat floated on it above the earth.
The water rose so much that even the highest mountains under the sky were covered by it.
It continued to rise until it was more than
twenty feet above the mountains.
All living things that moved on the earth died. This included all the birds, tame animals,
wild animals, and creatures that swarm on the earth, as well as all human beings. So everything on dry land that had the breath of life in it died. God destroyed from the earth every living thing that was on the land—every man, animal, crawling thing, and bird of the sky. All that was left was Noah and what was with him in the boat.
And the waters continued to cover the earth for one hundred fifty days.
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Sometimes God will allow rains and heavy thunderstorms to come into our lives. But just because it quits raining, does not mean that our troubles have passed, or that it is time to get out of the boat. Many times, after the rains come into our lives, there will be a waiting period before God will lift His hand and we can go forward.
TODAY’S INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD:
What amazes me every time I read the accounts of Noah is that there were major transitions for him and his family before they were ready to move into their new land! From the day Noah got onto the boat until the day he stepped off the boat was one year and ten days! It might have poured down rain for the first forty days, but just because the rains stopped didn't mean that all was clear, for the first hundred and fifty days, all Noah saw as far as he could see was water.
But do you know what happened after that? God sent a wind storm to rock the boat and everyone in it!
But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle
that were with him in the ark;
and God caused a wind to pass over the earth,
and the water subsided.
(Gen. 8:1 NASB)
My friend, I don't think with that much water covering everything, a gentle summer's breeze was what God sent to dry up the waters. Don't underestimate the winds that God blows into your lives, they very well could be there to dry up the water from the storms you have just gone through. Sometimes it is the winds that come at us after we have gone through harsh battles that blow us into the ports we have longed to go. I find it interesting what Ps. 104 says, "He makes the winds His messengers, Flaming fire His ministers" (Vs 4 NASB).
And, it was the wind that God used to breathe new life into the dry bones in the vision God gave Ezekiel. Maybe not the same kind of harsh wind, but still the He used the "four winds."Then he said to me, "Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, 'This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.'" So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet--a vast army (Ezek 37:9-10 NIV).
When the rains had finally stopped for Noah, and when the winds had died down; he still wasn't ready to depart and move on to dry land. He had to wait, the land had to go through some changes. My friend the same was with the Israelites when they left Egypt. They didn't leave, cross over the Red Sea and go straight over into the promise land, there was a desert to cross. They spent time in the presence of God watching Him provide for them, and in the process, changing them. God prepared them by showing them that they could depend on Him. He watched over them and taught them. It was the same for Noah before he could leave the boat he was in, and it is the same for us.
When God frees us from something, when God breaks the bondage's we have been in, when God prunes us... there will always be a time for healing BEFORE we start growing. When a baby is born, there are stages they must go through before they can run around the living room or the back yard playing. Just because God says, "This is what I am going to do for you..." or "This is the plans I have for you..." there will always be a time of transition. It is how we respond during this time that will determine if we have peace and grow in the way God would have us to. Or we can grumble like our ancestors did and make our journey ten times harder than it has to be.
After it downpours in your life, don't begrudge the time God needs to prepare you or your circumstances before He says "Now Go." Take the time to focus on Him and let Him show you amazing things about Himself as He moves about in your life. Don't think for a moment that He has forgotten you. There will come a day when He sends the winds to blow you onto the course He has for you, and then there will be that clear morning when you realize it is time to pull the curtains backs; and soon after there will come the day for you just as for Noah that God will say, "Now go, I am sending you.."
Now it came about in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, the water was dried up from the earth. Then Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the surface of the ground was dried up. In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. Then God spoke to Noah, saying, "Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons' wives with you" (Gen 8:13-16 NASB).
PRAYING IN FAITH:
Father God, thank You that You don't forget us. Thank You, Lord, that You are always with us. Lord, please help us to remember this during times of transition when we may be ready to move into our future, but You are not. Lord, help us to remain focused on You and not to grumble about the things we perceive as holding us back. Lord, help us to trust You, for You are trustworthy and are worthy even more of our praise. Father, I lift this reader up to You, please be with them. Lord, I ask You to hold on to them and help them to feel Your presence. Lord, I pray that You will open their eyes to see Your hand moving in their lives. Lord, I pray You will send the winds to blow them into the ports that You would have them to be. In Christ Jesus’ name I pray,
~ My friend, have a blessed and Christ filled day.
