TODAY IN HIS WORD COMES FROM
(Eph 6:13 NCV)
That is why you need to put on God's full armor.
Then on the day of evil you will be able to stand strong.
And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing.
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Throughout Scripture, God's Word speaks of the battles that comes up against His people, and sometimes it is hard to understand why. But the simple truth is, the more threat you become to the enemy, the harder he is going to try to knock you down. It takes gumption and determination to set your shoulders and weather the storm. It takes courage and a belief in someone bigger that you cannot see with your physical eye, to be able to stand in faith and not back down.
TODAY’S INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD:
Notice in today's passage, it says, "when you have finished the whole fight..." God never does ANYTHING half way. With God it is always 100%, He didn't just halfway create the universe, He didn't paint the sky and leave the earth void of color. When He told the Israelites to go in and take the promise land, He wanted them to have it all-- the whole thing. So when God gives you a job to do-- He expects you to finish it. And when battles come and the enemy wages a war against you, He expects you to see it through.
When Jesus told the disciples to "go across to the other side of the lake", He meant just that. Jesus had faith that they would make it-- which was why the storm didn't bother Him. Jesus knew that He had a job to do, that God had given Him a mission, that He had a purpose. So He knew that come rough seas or high water, He would get to the other side, that nothing would hold Him back. One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, "Let us go across to the other side of the lake." So they set out, and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger (Luke 8:22-23).
My Friend, when God gives you a mission and points you in the direction and says, "Go," know that He expects you to see it all the way to the finish, even if when you get there, you find that you are the last man standing-- don't give up, don't back down, and don't quit. Do you know why? Because with each step you take, the Lord IS by your side. God does not say, "Well good luck with that, hope you make it," and then goes off to something else, leaving you to fight fires all alone.
No, the Lord arms you. But do you know what He arms you with? He arms you with HIMSELF. He told Abram (soon to be Abraham) in Genesis 15:1, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” Notice God didn't tell Abram He was going to give him A SHIELD-- the Lord told Abram," I AM YOUR SHIELD" My friend, He does (and says) the same thing to us. When it is all said and done-- victory is given to us. If we will see the battle through, if we will go all the way to the finish and believe when He says, "Go, for I am sending You," then we too will have our reward.
My friend, don't you want to make it to the other side of where you are at now? Don't You want to go the distance and see what God has for you? I know I do. My middle son and I were having a talk one day. He was getting so discouraged because something he longs for (something we both believe God has promised us) has taken so long to come forth. He asked me if I thought maybe God had forgotten, or maybe changed His mind... So I reminded my son about some things that had happened that we both believe to be confirmation of what God had said. And then I asked him, "Do you think God lied?" My son instantly said "NO." Then he asked me, "but why...." All I could say was I don't know.
And then I asked him if he really wanted to give up. I encouraged him to just think about it, and then I put one of my hands sideways on the blanket we were sitting on and held my other hand as if it were someone walking on one side. I asked my son to use his hand to make it look like someone else was on the other side, so he did. I told my son that we were to "keep walking" until we met. But right before my left-handed "guy" made it to the end of the fence (my right hand) I stopped. My son looked up and asked me why I quit when I was so close. I looked my son in the face and said maybe when he gets to heaven God is going to ask the same question, "Why did you quit believing Me when you were so close to what I had promised?" I explained to my son that we can't see everything that is up ahead of us. But God can. I reminded my son that even though we had plans for the next day, we couldn't really see what was coming up, but again God can. And then I asked my son, what if he gets to heaven and can look down at all we can't see right now, and finds that what he had been waiting for was just around the corner-- in arm's length, but he laid down just before he got there. My son renewed his faith, and he keeps standing.
My friend, sometimes when God says, "This is what I am going to do" it may take a while to bear fruit. And in the mean time, our faith is tested, and we will go through different degrees of battle, but often times God will allow it, because it is meant to refine us. It is meant to strengthen us-- not break us. And the closer we get to what God has promised, the enemy will come at us in every direction. Sometimes it really can seem as if we are the only one. But that is actually when we are the strongest, because that is when God steps in. When we get to that point where we have to say, "I have nothing left, but I am still here," then God shows how mighty HE IS.
If we will put on our whole armor, and believe what God tells us, and hold to His Word, then we too will be able to say: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith (2 Tim 4:7 NASB). And we will still be standing, because we will be standing in grace with strength that only comes from God.
PRAYING IN FAITH:
Father God, we come before You. Lord, thank You for the strength, wisdom and knowledge You give us. Lord, thank You for lifting and holding us up, and for the truth of Your Word's that You give us to hold to. We praise You for being our shield and helping us to stand in You. Father, I pray for this reader with me today. Lord, may You keep them steady. Lord, I ask You to lift them up and place their feet on solid ground. Lord, I pray that they will see that they are victorious in you.
In Christ Jesus Name,
~ My friend, have a blessed day.
