TODAY IN HIS WORD COMES FROM
(2 Cor. 4:6 NASB)
For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,”
is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
If you ever wonder if there will be an end to your heartache, trials, tribulations, and storms; if you ever look at the canyons in your life and wonder how you are going to make it across; if you ever look at the horizon and wonder if the clouds will ever break; or if you ever look out at the darkness of night and wonder if daybreak will ever come, my friend, know that Jesus says, “I am here, I am the One.”
TODAY’S INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD:
From the VERY beginning, God has always separated darkness from the light. And amazingly even in darkness-- He gives us glimmers to show us the way out. I wonder if that is why He created the stars. A starry night can be beautiful, but take them all away and the sky is just dark with nothing to see. When I look up on these nights, when it’s just and endless span of darkness, I find that I almost hold my breath and turn completely around, just searching, looking and hoping for something to see-- even just one, and when I do, I am amazed at how just that one star shining all by itself will become a beacon for me.
My friend, when we have a heavy heart, God will move to shine His light into the very depth of it. When God is ready to move in your life, when His timing comes -- He always go to the “heart of the matter.” He brings light to the heart’s that are suffering in darkness and dispair, and He will shine His light to bring people out of darkness.
When Paul was on the road to Damascus, we read in Act 26 him telling King Agrippa: “I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining all around me and those who were journeying with me” (vs 13 NASB). My friend, God knew that something in Paul’s heart was ready, and He sent His light straight into Paul’s heart, changing him forever. Shortly before Paul was struck with this light, he had held men’s coats as others stoned Stephen (a follower of Christ) to death. My friend, Paul may have stood there that day and even approved of what happened to Stephen– but SOMETHING was seeded into his heart. Something, without him even being aware of it, broke through and touched Paul’s heart, making him ready to receive what Jesus had for him. And, when the Lord shined brightly through, Paul’s heart opened up.
My friend, God can work in our hearts without US even realizing it, and then when He’s ready to reveal something, our hearts can immediately respond, and sometimes in ways that completely surprise us, and we’re left wondering, “Where did that come from?” My friend, know that God knows what the deepest parts of our hearts need most– even if we are not aware of it. And in some way, He will send His light as a beacon to shine for us, so that we will know which way to go, and what He would have for us. God’s light will create warmth and peace in us. It may be in a very small sliver of light at first, kind of like the first rays of sunlight in the morning– but just wait, it will grow. Just as the morning gets brighter and brighter as the sun comes up, so does His light as He works inside of us.
Are there morning that it’s overcasted and raining-- yes, and the same is true for us. There will be days that like inside of us. But, out of the ashes-- know that new life does come. Just as night does not last forever, neither will the times when we can’t seem to see anything around us. Know that morning DOES come, and with it, His mercy and hope.
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
My friend, if you are struggling, know that a new day is just on the horizon and Jesus stands ready. Just as it is darkest before the dawn, so are our times right before God is ready to bring breakthrough for us. If you have reached a point where you have lost complete sight– know that a new day has come, and if you will just look up, you will begin to see slivers of light breaking through. My friend, know that is the love of Christ shining for you.
PRAYING IN FAITH:
Father God, thank You that You are always so close to us. Even when we are lost or confused, and when we can’t seem to figure out which way is up. Lord, thank You that Your love shines through for us. Thank You that out of darkness there comes a new day, one with hope. Thank You that Your mercy is forever lasting, and we praise You for Your faithfulness to see us through. Thank You for Your Son who shines so bright that it is like coming face to face with You.
Lord, I pray for this reader today. Lord I pray that they will feel Your warmth inside and that You will shine brighter than ever to show the way and Your will for them. Lord, may they walk with a smile on their face today. Lord, I pray for Your blessing on them.
In Christ Jesus Name,
~ My friend, blessed is the one who trust in Him. May His light lead you today.
