   Today's Daily Devotional
Let God's Word shine light on your step today
as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
This is what the Scripture says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
(Heb. 3:15)
Today's Devotional is from our series
Following As God Leads
Just as God led the Israelites day by day and even through the nights, so He desires to lead us. We only have to watch HIM, and follow in His steps as He directs us.

God has a certain place He wants each of us to be, and at certain times. If we will but trust Him, He will guide our foot steps each day at a time, and when we lay down He will watch over us, and even give us a cloud of fire to point the way as we week Him in the quietness at night.

Christ-Like Friendship and Support

Holding hands in fellowship with Christ-like friendship seeing how to connect the truth of God's Word with everyday life, while learning to walk together (hand and hand) through the pages of His Word.

(Romans 15:22-33 NCV)
This is the reason I was stopped many times from coming to you.
Now I have finished my work here. Since for many years I have wanted to come to you,
I hope to visit you on my way to Spain. After I enjoy being with you for a while,
I hope you can help me on my trip. Now I am going to Jerusalem to help God's people.
The believers in Macedonia and Southern Greece were happy to give their money to help
the poor among God's people at Jerusalem. They were happy to do this, and really they owe it to them. These who are not Jews have shared in the Jews' spiritual blessings, so they should use their material possessions to help the Jews. After I am sure the poor in Jerusalem get the money that has been given for them, I will leave for Spain and stop and visit you. I know that when I come to you I will bring Christ's full blessing.

Brothers and sisters, I beg you to help me in my work by praying to God for me.
Do this because of our Lord Jesus and the love that the Holy Spirit gives us.
Pray that I will be saved from the nonbelievers in Judea and that this help I bring to Jerusalem will please God's people there. Then, if God wants me to,
I will come to you with joy, and together you and I will have a time of rest.
The God who gives peace be with you all. Amen.

My friend, do you allow God to intervene in your plans? Do you step aside from your own plans to make room for God's? When was the last time you surrendered COMPLETELY to God and opened up your arms and said, "God-- whatever you want, have Your way."

Sometimes we can have the "best" laid plans for something, but then God will come along and say, "Here is what I want you to do instead." When this happens, do you say, "Lord, as you wish. Your will not mine." Or do you kick up a fuss?

Several weeks ago was one of those tines for me. I had plans-- plain and simple. I had plans for dinner with my family, and afterwards, I had personal plans for me that I had been looking forward to all day. However, just before starting dinner for my children, my middle son called me and asked if he could do something different instead. The tone in his voice and the set in his mind that this was something he should do, made me decide to say, "Yes."

The next morning as I look back at the night before, which included left overs for just me and one of my  youngest son, (instead of a whole new meal and a family dinner), AND a very late night trip to the grocery store with my middle son-- so he could finish doing something for someone else, (which wound up being for my OLDEST son).  I found that this indeed, had been the "BEST" plan for me. And very late that night, when everything was said and done, my middle son and I sat and had a cup of hot tea and talked about the course of the evening. And then we prayed.

He and I, both may have been a little sleepy the next day; but it was well worth it. And because of it, we had a wonderful fellowship with each other and time well spent. I am very thankful.

What "I may have wanted" was set aside for what I now see was what "God had wanted." And that is just fine with me.

I think that is one of the reasons Paul had so much success in his ministry, and was able to reach so many people, and be used by God in amazing ways. He followed the example Christ set for him, and followed in the footsteps God lead him. When we read the letters Paul wrote; it is always clear that he "prayfully made plans." He always left room for God to step in and say, "I want you to do this instead."

James also talks about boasting of our own plans. Read James 4:13-15

Now listen, you who say,
“Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city,
spend a year there, carry on business and make money.”
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while
and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say,
“If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

My friend, have you left room in your schedule for God to move today? Just something to think about.

Father God, we thank You for all that You do for us. Lord, we thank You for watching over us and guiding us. Lord, give us the courage to open up and let go of our plans so that You can have Your way in us. Lord, we praise You as the All-knowing God. Lord, we know that Your ways are so much better than ours. Help us not to be stubborn in our own thinking so that we can be open to Your plans in our lives.
Father, I lift up this reader to You. Lord, I pray for a hedge of protection around them and that You will keep them firmly rooted in You. Lord, I pray that You will keep their feet on the path You would have for them. Lord, I pray that Your will be done in their lives and that they will see the goodness of Your plans for them. Lord, I pray too, that You will enlighten them and give them revelation as to their purpose. Lord, I pray that You will open their Spiritual ears so that they will hear Your voice above all the noise.
In Christ Jesus Name,

~ My friend, may you walk in God's steps and may You see the path He has set before you this day.
