Today's Daily Devotional
Let God's Word shine light on your step today
as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
This is what the Scripture says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
(Heb. 3:15)
Today's Devotional is from our series
Following As God Leads
Just as God led the Israelites day by day and even through the nights, so He desires to lead us. We only have to watch HIM, and follow in His steps as He directs us.

God has a certain place He wants each of us to be, and at certain times. If we will but trust Him, He will guide our foot steps each day at a time, and when we lay down He will watch over us, and even give us a cloud of fire to point the way as we week Him in the quietness at night.

Devotional: With-in Our Families
Oct. 26th

TODAY IN HIS WORD COMES FROM
(Matt: 12: 46-50 NCV)
While Jesus was talking to the people,
his mother and brothers stood outside,
trying to find a way to talk to him. Someone told Jesus,
"Your mother and brothers are standing outside, and they want to talk to you."
He answered, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?"
Then he pointed to his followers and said, "Here are my mother and my brothers.
My true brother and sister and mother are those who do what my Father in heaven wants."

THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Sometimes there comes a time in our walk with the Lord, when not everyone is going to understand what we are doing, or even what we are saying. Sometimes the people who misunderstand us the most, will be people from our own families.

TODAY’S INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD:
My friend, if you have ever felt like no understands, and that everyone around you is scratching their heads-- wondering what in the world are you doing; know that you are in good company, so did Jesus.

From the moment Jesus step out of the workshop and into His ministry, people misunderstood him. His family didn't get him, His brothers didn't believe Him, and His closest friends didn't understand what His true purpose and mission was. Every step to the cross was met with ridicule, resentment, unbelief, and confusion. But He still obeyed God. Jesus kept His focus on what God had shown Him, and what He was to do.

Sometimes even we will be set apart from family members for a season so that God can work in us. And I can tell you, from experience, when this happens-- it is hard. But you have to decide, do you want the short-term and what they would have for you (even when it is with well intentions), or do you want what God would have for you-- and ultimately your whole entire family? My friend, know that whatever God does in you and for you will affect so many others, and even those closest to you.

You might ask, "WHY? Why do they not understand..." because my friend, they may not be where you are at in your Spiritual walk. God may have brought you out first in order to reach them and show them His glory through you. And if that is the case-- if God wants to do something in their lives, and chooses to use you as His vessel to reach them, then He is going to have to work in you FIRST, and they are not going to understand that.

When God has to do work in you first, He will take you aside and cleanse you and bring healing where you need it. He will "clean house" first. But then He will begin to move in and grow things in you in ways you never thought possible. But in the meantime, those closes to you may hurt you with words or actions, because they can't seem to see the changes INSIDE of you.

Last fall we had a ton of plants spout up in the front yard. At first I thought maybe they were weeds. But I took one to the nursery and found out that somehow-- and only God knows how-- I had Holy Hocks growing wild in my graveled yard. So I let them go. However, all winter long and even into the beginning of spring-- it looked as if I had let weeds just take over the front of my house. This spring while everyone's plants seemed to be blooming-- I just kept having the huge green plants growing. I had people asking me all the time-- even my mother, "Are you ever going to pull those weeds?" But I just bided my time, and one day as I turned the corner to come home, there were flowers everywhere, and in all kinds of colors. And all summer long, and even into this fall, when people drive by-- they saw what I knew was there all along.

My friend, my point is, when God does this to you; know that at some point in time, He will do an unveiling and everyone around you will see what He has been doing along. You will not have to point it out to them, because His light will be shining through you. A verse I would like you to keep in mind, which is sometime hard to bare when you are thinking of loved ones is this: “A person who does not have the Spirit does not accept the truths that come from the Spirit of God. That person thinks they are foolish and cannot understand them, because they can only be judged to be true by the Spirit” (1 Corinthians 2:14 NCV).

Another verse I would like you to consider is Luke 9:58-60; Jesus said to them, "The foxes have holes to live in, and the birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to rest his head." Jesus said to another man, "Follow me!" But he said, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father." But Jesus said to him, "Let the people who are dead bury their own dead. You must go and tell about the kingdom of God."

My friend, it wasn't that Jesus didn't care for this man's family. It was because the man's family would have been a hindrance to this man, and they were not ready to accept Jesus. They were not at the same Spiritual walk as this man. If this man had stayed with his family, Jesus knew that this man would become like his family. So Jesus said, let them go and, "you follow me." And in doing so, this man could be come a light to his family. My friend, are you in the same boat? If you are, know that God can (and will) do amazing things through you. He has not forgotten your family. It is not His intention to leave anyone behind-- even if He has to use YOU in painful ways to get to them.

PRAYING IN FAITH:
Father God, what an awesome God You are, may we never forget that. Lord, Your love is amazing, may we always rest in that. Thank You for this day You have given us, and may we also find strength in Your words that You give us, Lord, we pray that we will shine in Holy light for You.
Father, I come before You, and I raise this reader up to You. Lord, may You heal them and make them new. Lord, I pray that You will do incredible things in them and through them, so that YOUR GLORY will be seen in them.
In Christ Jesus Name,
Amen.

~ My friend, may God shine upon you today..
Kassie
