Today's Daily Devotional
Let God's Word shine light on your step today
as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
This is what the Scripture says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
(Heb. 3:15)
Today's Devotional is from our series
Following As God Leads
Just as God led the Israelites day by day and even through the nights, so He desires to lead us. We only have to watch HIM, and follow in His steps as He directs us.

God has a certain place He wants each of us to be, and at certain times. If we will but trust Him, He will guide our foot steps each day at a time, and when we lay down He will watch over us, and even give us a cloud of fire to point the way as we week Him in the quietness at night.

Christ-Like Friendship and Support

Holding hands in fellowship with Christ-like friendship seeing how to connect the truth of God's Word with everyday life, while learning to walk together (hand and hand) through the pages of His Word.

TODAY IN HIS WORD COMES FROM
(Gen. 49:22-26 NIV)
"Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine near a spring, whose branches climb over a wall.
With bitterness archers attacked him; they shot at him with hostility.

But his bow remained steady, his strong arms stayed limber,
because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd,
the Rock of Israel, because of your father's God, who helps you,
because of the Almighty, who blesses you with blessings of the heavens above,
blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breast and womb.

Your father's blessings are greater than the blessings of the ancient mountains,
than the bounty of the age-old hills. Let all these rest on the head of Joseph,
on the brow of the prince among his brothers."

THOUGHT TO PONDER:
When Joseph set out from the Valley of Hebron to check on his brothers at the request of his father, he had no idea that he wouldn't be returning. But God did. As Joseph left his father's house, God's plan to save a nation was coming into play. Joseph might have thought he was by himself that day, but what he didn't know was that as he walked, he did so with the Almighty God.

TODAY’S INSIGHT INTO HIS WORD:
In the context of today's verse, Jacob was giving his blessing to his 12 sons. As he spoke he also prophesied over the 12 tribes of Israel. In Jacob's words over his son Joseph, he spoke of God's mighty hand in Joseph's life. God alone was the one who saw Joseph through all the struggles he faced, and the trials and hardships he endured. Our key verse today it says "his bow remained steady, his strong arms stayed limber, because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob." This reminds me of the time my middle son was at a wrestling tournament and was competing for 3rd place in the finals. The opponent he was wrestling didn't like being beaten and would try and win at all cost. I had watched earlier as several times this young man had fought viciously to stay in the championship. When it came time to wrestle my son, it was "no holds bar" at one point they were tied in points and the clock was ticking, and they went out of bounds. The referee blew the whistle to stop them and as my son let up his grip on this other young man,  this opponent reached up around my son's neck and brought him down head first on the hard wooden floor.

The match was stopped and everyone went running  as my son just laid there for several moments. When Mason finally stood up, the coach waved me over to where they were standing, but as I got there I saw the head coach nod his head and agree with something my son had said. I stood there as the coaches backed up and Mason walked back out on the mat. As the referee started to come across to Mason, my son literally held his hand up to him and said leave me alone. He then turned to the opponent and waved his hand to him in typical man fashion of, "come on lets go..." Needless to say I was stunned. As I stood there, I watched my son flip this young man over his back and pin him to the floor. Mason then held him there until the whistle blew. There was no question on my son's face that he meant business. The incredible thing is, he has no memory of the event at all, the egg shaped bruise and the pounding headache he suffered, would explain why. But everyone else there that day stood up and gave Mason a wondrous applaud!

As I think about that day, before the match, my son was tired. It had been a long day and he was competing on a hurt shoulder from the week before, but it didn't stop him. And it just barely slowed him down. You see Mason is not a quitter. He goes until there is just nothing left. But when that young man slammed Mason's head down on the floor, instead of it being the straw that broke the camel's back and finished him-- he came back pumped up and ready for war. I truly believe that was an act of God. The Lord proved mighty for him that day. In the same way that God kept Joseph's strength and saw him a victor instead of defeat, I believe God was with my son, and when Mason stepped back onto the mat, he wasn't alone-- the Almighty God walked with him and gave him the strength he did not have on his on.  This incident brings to mind a Scripture, listen to it with an open heart as the Lord speaks:

"Yes, captives will be taken from warriors,  and plunder retrieved from the fierce;  I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save. I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be drunk on their own blood, as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob" (Isaiah 49:25-26 NIV).

Did you hear that? The Lord will contend with those who contend with you! When someone goes up against one of the marked children of God, they go up against the Almighty God Himself.

One last Scripture I would like to leave you with to think about:  "Although you have been forsaken and hated,  with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations. You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob" (Isaiah 60:15-16 NIV).

My friend, no matter where you are at, no matter what you are going through; when you hold your hand up to God and ask Him to step in and make His presence know; it will be the Almighty God of Jacob who steps in. God has not changed, the same God before is the same God now, and when you need a defender He says, "Here I Am."

PRAYING IN FAITH:
Father God, we praise You as our God. Thank You Lord for the way You step in make Your presence known. Lord, thank You for the way You defend us and the victory that comes with Your hand. Lord, thank You for the strength we find that can only come from You as we face challenges that are too tough on our own.
Father God, I lift this reader up to You and ask You to be with them today. Lord, I pray that they will take a deep breath and just pause for a moment as they slowly let it out and feel YOU fill them back up. Lord, I pray that they will sense Your presence with them as they go out today. Lord, may they glorify You in all that they do. Lord, may they keep their eyes on You and not on things of this world.
In Christ Jesus Name,
Amen.

~ My friend, know that you are thought about often, and I pray you will have a wonderful day.
